Peter McIntyre
Biography
Born 24th September 1948 in Sydney, NSW, Australia, the son of a Pharmacist and Home maker with an older Brother John and younger sister Margaret Anne.
Peter lived on the lower North shore of Sydney until his parent’s divorce in 1957 when Peter and his brother were sent to Barker College in Hornsby as borders.
From high school Peter completed a diploma in Television Production and Studio techniques and Radio engineering at North Sydney Technical College.
Peter worked for a short period in camera stores and film processing laboratories and at Channel 10, Sydney as a news cameraman.
Joined Geophysical Service Incorporated a Texas Instruments Incorporated subsidiary and studied geophysics under internal programs. He was selected to attend further training in the US on large scale geophysical computers. He completed diploma course at A&M University on Computer Structure and Design. During this time, Peter assisted Dr William van der Graff the development of geophysical data displays in variable density form.
Peter was assigned to work on the installing of large scale geophysical computers in Stavanger, Norway; Libya; Amstelveen, Netherlands; Bedford, United Kingdom and Calgary in Canada.
Returning to Australia, Peter joined Texas Instruments the parent company of GSI in the Data Systems Division. He developed an inventory system and jointly developed a Calculator Repair tracking system. Peter received a meritorious award for these projects.
